Session Prep Guide

Before your session

A few simple things that can help your

session go as smoothly as possible

  • If possible, keep baby awake for about 45–60 minutes before arriving.
  • You can either feed baby right before you leave and plan for a quick snack before starting or you can plan for a full feed in studio as we lead into your session.

The goal is to get baby full, cozy, and sleepy.

  • Dress baby in a simple zipper sleeper to avoid marks

on the skin and make changing easy.

Make sure any bandages are removed at least 12 hours before session.

  • I will provide wraps, blankets, outfits, headbands, bonnets,

and container props for your baby's session.

All I ask for you to bring is extra milk/formula if bottle feeding (I have both a fridge and bottle warmer), a pacifier if comfortable, and yourselves.

During your session

Newborn sessions are fully baby-led and intentionally relaxed.

Your session may include feeding breaks, soothing, cuddles, diaper changes, and plenty of time for settling. Some babies sleep deeply, while others prefer to stay awake, both are completely okay and beautiful to document.

The studio will be kept warm and cozy for baby’s comfort, so I recommend dressing in light layers. Drinks and light snacks will be available during your time in studio.

Sessions typically last anywhere from 2–4 hours depending on session type and your baby’s needs.

What to Wear

The most timeless images tend to come from simple,

comfortable clothing in neutral or earthy tones.

For moms:

flowy dresses

soft knits

simple textures

minimal patterns/logos

For dads:

creams, tans, olive, or soft browns

henleys, sweaters, linen, or fitted basics photograph beautifully

For siblings:

soft, neutral tones without graphics or bright patterns

The goal is coordinated, not overly matched.

Things I would recommend avoiding to ensure your images achieve a clean timeless and works best technically in the studio environment

  • baseball hats (can hide faces)
  • busy/colorful/clashing patterns
  • large logos or shirts with words
  • vibrant, neon, bold colors
  • everyone in dark/black tones
  • pure white (ivory and cream encouraged instead)

You are welcome to wear anything from my client closet

or bring your own outfits from home.

You can change in the studio where I can step out for privacy or

use the bathroom down the hall from the studio space.

Parent and Family Posing

Some of the most meaningful images come from simply holding your baby close.

Skin-to-skin images, gentle movement, cuddling, and natural interaction photograph beautifully and help create the soft, connected feel my sessions are known for.

You do not need to know how to pose, I will guide you through everything naturally.

For our younger siblings, please try not to stress too much about how they'll be during the session. All sessions are baby led, but they're child led as well. I will read their cues and do my best to work my magic to ensure they get captured with baby in the least stressful way for everybody.

If there's anything you feel insecure about, please don't hesitate to let me know. I want you to love your images and I will do what I can to make you feel your best

After your session

Within 72 hours, you’ll receive a proof gallery via your email to select your favorite images.

After selections are made, final edits are typically completed by 21 days. Your final gallery will be delivered in high resolution for downloading, sharing, and printing. You will be invoiced separately if you choose to purchase additional images for edit or would like any specialty print products. Standard prints can be purchased through your download gallery. Products such as heirloom albums will be created through an in person or online consult.
