FAQ
Where is your studio located?
My cozy lifestyle studio is located in a historic building near downtown Reno. The space is light, airy, and intentionally designed to create a calm, comfortable experience for both parents and babies while keeping the focus on connection and your little one.
Do you do sessions at home?
At this time, all newborn sessions take place in my studio. The space is fully prepared with everything needed to create a relaxed, seamless experience while allowing me to provide the consistent aesthetic and experience my clients know and love.
When do newborn sessions take place?
The ideal time for newborn photos is within the first 5–21 days after birth. During this stage, babies are typically sleepiest and most naturally curled, allowing for those soft, cozy newborn images.
What if baby is older than 21 days old?
While the ideal timeframe is within the first 21 days, I understand that life doesn’t always go as planned. Whether your baby spent time in the NICU, you found me later than expected, or circumstances simply made scheduling difficult, beautiful newborn images are still absolutely possible.
Older newborns may be more alert and may require a few additional breaks for comfort and soothing, but that simply means your session will be approached a little differently. I never want parents to feel they have “missed” the opportunity to document this special season.
How long do newborn sessions last?
Newborn sessions are fully baby-led and typically last between 1-2 hours for petite sessions and 3-4 hours for signature sessions. Plenty of time is built in for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and breaks to ensure a relaxed experience.
What if baby is inconsolable?
Newborn sessions are always approached with patience and flexibility. Some babies are extra sleepy, while others may need additional soothing, feeding, or comfort breaks throughout the session — and that is completely okay.
Years of experience working with newborns have taught me how to follow baby’s lead and create a calm, relaxed environment. Sessions are intentionally baby-led, with plenty of time built in to ensure your little one stays as comfortable as possible.
In the rare event that a session needs additional time or rescheduling, we will work together to make sure you still receive a beautiful final gallery.
Do you do sessions with colors or themed props?
My style and overall aesthetic focus on soft neutrals, simplicity, and timeless imagery. The studio is curated with cream, white, and some earthy tones along with minimal, natural props that keep the focus on your baby and your family’s connection.
At this time, I do not offer heavily themed or brightly colored setups. My goal is to create images that feel organic, timeless, and true to my style of photography.
Who can join in on a session?
Newborn sessions are designed primarily for parents, siblings, and baby. To help maintain a calm and comfortable environment within the studio, I do ask that attendance be limited to those participating in the session.
Grandparents or additional loved ones are welcome to join for a few images if discussed in advance, though space is limited to two additional adults.
For families with young siblings, I do recommend bringing an extra adult to assist when needed.
Is my baby safe during the session?
Your baby’s comfort and safety are always my top priority. Sessions are completely baby-led, and poses are approached gently and naturally with careful attention to baby’s comfort at all times. I am fully trained in proper newborn posing and safety, and I will always be continuing my education in all things newborn and photography.
As well, the studio is always thoroughly sanitized and cleaned between every session.
How does booking work?
To officially reserve your session, a signed contract and non-refundable retainer are required. This secures your spot on my calendar, even if baby arrives earlier than expected.
Once booked, you’ll receive a questionnaire that helps me get to know your family, preferences, and overall vision for your session.
The retainer will be applied toward your total session balance. It is transferrable to a different session type if a newborn session is no longer desired.
How do we pick a date?
If you are booking before baby arrives, I will reserve your estimated due date on my calendar. Once your little one is here, simply reach out within the first few days after birth and we will choose a weekday morning session that works best for both schedules.
If your baby has already arrived, we will schedule based on current availability. I always do my best to accommodate early arrivals whenever possible.
When is final payment due?
The remaining balance for your session is due on the day of your session. Payment may be made through the invoice link sent via email or by cash/check in person.
Payment plans are available upon request.
Can we wear color?
Absolutely. While I typically recommend soft neutrals and earthy tones to best complement my editing style and studio aesthetic, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and like yourselves.
For the most cohesive final gallery, I generally recommend avoiding:
large logos
busy patterns
neon colors
baseball hats
overly dark or all-black outfits
After booking, you’ll receive a styling guide to help make outfit planning simple and stress-free.
Do you have a client closet?
Yes. I offer a curated client closet with dresses and select wardrobe pieces available for mothers and little ones to use during their session.
After booking, you’ll receive access to view the available pieces and styling options. Use of the client closet is included with your session at no additional cost, though you are always welcome to wear your own outfits as well.
Can we bring our own props?
There is no need to bring anything unless you would like to include a meaningful heirloom or sentimental item.
Your session includes access to a curated collection of wraps, headbands, bonnets, blankets, hats, and minimal newborn styling pieces that have been thoughtfully selected for my aesthetic and style of photography.
When do we get our images?
Within 48 hours of your session, you will receive a proof gallery containing the best images from your session with light preliminary edits applied.
From there, you will select the number of images included in your package for final editing and delivery. Final images are fully hand-edited and delivered within approximately 21 days of your selections being submitted.
Additional images may be purchased separately if desired. Clients who complete selections within one week will maintain standard turnaround times.
Do you offer bundles, discounts or special offers?
Yes. Clients who book both maternity and newborn sessions together will receive a discounted maternity retainer as well as $50 off their newborn session.
Newborn clients will also receive:
10% off future full sessions
early access to mini sessions
$50 off their first milestone session
20% off print products ordered within the first week of gallery delivery
